Real Life.

Lately I have been doing some readings to prepare myself for my next big adventure in life

Working on an acute leukemia and bone marrow transplant unit

I have always wanted to work on a cancer unit as I find the science behind cancer very fascinating

since day one of this program people have asked me

“what kind of nursing do you want to do?”

and I’ve always responded with oncology

There are no set examples for reasons of why I want to go into oncology

No anecdote that explains my curiosity

but I’ve always felt I would be strong enough to work in this field

However, reading up on everything I should know made it all become very real

it suddenly started to sink in how extremely nerve racking this placement is going to be

I’m actually going to be working with people whose lives are seriously on the brink here

and all I can keep thinking to myself is …what if I mess something up?…

In the end this could be a very smart decision in my life or it could possibly end up being the worse

Either way I know it’s going to be a long and strenuous adventure that pushes me probably to my limits and beyond

I guess in the end all I can do is try my best even if I experience many tears and hardships along the way I will hopefully come out a better person and a better nurse.
